![]() This is my first tutorial so sorry if its jank or lame looking I kinda got lazy making it lmao. This isn't a method of blending btw, it's just piling on color and praying it works. I can color a whole piece with this method in about 1-3 hours (to me thats pretty fast ok I like detail). I prefer the look of lines and streaks it's more realistic (and cooler looking)ĭESPITE THE LOOKS AND ALL THE STEPS THIS WAY OF COLORING IS SUPER DUPER QUICK AND LAZY. It literally has 3 brushes usable for coloring. DON'T USE AIRBRUSH/BLUR I actually don't like the look of completely blended coloring (it reminds me of smudging ew) and it's really uncreative and basic imo (unless theres a way to make it not look like the stated? idk I haven't seen it) This is a method of doing something with the pencil tool! FIREALPACA SUCKS WITH ITS BRUSHES. The methods for coloring in FireAlpaca is so extremely limited, theres not much you can do besides cell shade, airbrush it, or do something with the pencil tool. Then thats done and I choose a different color and repeat the process. Tbh, I choose random colors, pencil tool it up, mess with the opacity, and slap it on. I was asked to make a tutorial on how I color/shade on FireAlpaca, so here it is! The software should install its profile correctly so there should be no need to manually set the control panel once you are doing this right.Don't wanna erase everything on the outside at the end? Use the magic tool/clipping tool/protect alpha your base color and color on top ( ´ ▽`)~ I just got lazy lmao Or, (as always) How /I/ use Color Dodge/The Color Dodge layer mode.I dont think SAI has the option of color dodge (if it does, please lmk) but photoshop and. For this drawing, I’ve done the shading in a bright pink on a separate layer from the coloring. If this change to the Monitor Display profile temporarily fixes the appearance issue, it is recommended that you should now calibrate and profile the monitor properly using a calibration sensor like the i1display pro, which will create and install its own custom monitor profile. There’s a feature on most painting programs (SAI, Photoshop, Manga Studio, and to some extent FireAlpaca) called blending modes that can help you if you want to try different colors for shading and highlights. Quit and relaunch Photoshop after the control panel change, to ensure the new settings are applied.ĭepending on the characteristics of your monitor display and your requirements, using sRGB or Adobe RGB here may be good enough - but no display perfectly matches either, so a custom calibration is a superior approach. Screenshot of Color Management Control Panel Once it’s selected, be sure to check “Use my settings for this device” up top.Īnd click on “set as Default Profile - bottom right You can click to ADD to add “sRGB IEC61966-2.1” (or AdobeRGB1998) if not already listed there.Īgain - IF you have a wide gamut display I suggest trying “AdobeRGB1998” In the Devices tab, ensure that your monitor is selected in the Device field. ![]() (If you have a wide gamut monitor display (check the spec online) it’s better to try ‘AdobeRGB1998” here instead as it more closely approximates the display characteristics).Ĭlick ‘Start’, type color in the search box, To find out if the monitor display profile is the issue, I recommend you to try temporarily setting the monitor profile for your own monitor display under “Device” in your Windows ‘color management’ control panel to “sRGB IEC61966-2.1”. As the issue isn’t caused by Photoshop, please don’t change your Photoshop ‘color settings’ to try fix it. Photoshop is correct, it’s the industry standard for viewing images, in my experience it's revealing an issue with the Monitor Display profile rather than causing it. ![]() The poor monitor display profile issue is hidden by some applications, specifically those that do not use colour management, such as Microsoft Windows "Photos". The issue can affect different application programs in different ways, some not at all, some very badly. I CAN happen with Macs but with far less likelihood, it seems.] Unfortunately, with Microsoft hardware: Windows updates, Graphics Card updates and Display manufacturers have a frustratingly growing reputation for automatically installing useless (corrupted) monitor display profiles. Of course you must not expect accurate colour with programs such as Windows "Photos", because in most versions colour management is not implemented there, so such programs are incapable of providing accurate image display. It'll only take a few minutes and is good troubleshooting.Īt least once a week on this forum we read about this, or very similar issues of appearance differing between colour managed applications.
